Gapo Beach

Textured Acrylic Painting on a 24x24-Inch Galley Wrapped Canvas, 08 2026

In this piece, I sculpted real-feel sand, waxy banana leaves, and our favorite childhood dishes using heavy impasto to bring my memories of Gapo Beach in Gamay, Northern Samar to life.

Growing up, whenever we celebrated something special, we didn’t need fancy malls or amusement parks. Our ultimate reward was just a simple trip to Gapo Beach or Nabunglayan with a banana leaf mat, grilled fish, boiled sweet potatoes, rice in a weathered kaldero, and a bottle of Coke.

It’s a story of a kid who dreamed of one day serving a grander feast to his family, while holding onto the humble moments that shaped him.

Brush Pens on 6x8-Inch 300 GSM Marker Paper

Last autumn of 2025, I spent my vacation in the US with my husband, aiming to capture magic of the as it unfolded. "My First Autumn" is the outcome of that month-long adventure.

Coming from the Philippines without these specific season, seeing the leaves turn for the first time was an experience I had to put on paper. From the first golden tree I saw to the cozy flavors of fall, each of these 8 pieces is a memory I’ve brought back home with me.It wasn't always easy to find the time to draw while traveling, but finishing this series is the best souvenir I could have asked for.

Textured Acrylic Painting on a 16x16-Inch Galley Wrapped Canvas, 08 2026

Inspired by childhood memories of our hometown garden in Gamay, I wanted to give these blooms a royal upgrade. The rich gold background on this 16x16" (2” thick) canvas takes the flowers to a whole new level and status.

This 24x24" stretched canvas features yellow gumamelas—the first flower I ever knew growing up in the province. Painted with a thick impasto technique in honor of my Mom’s favorite color, it blends deep blue contrast with sculpted, sunny petals that leap off the canvas.

A visual love letter to my hometown, Gamay, Northern Samar. Through thick, sculpted textures, I wanted to raise awareness in protecting this natural treasure, and to show the warmth, the vibrant turquoise waters, and the undeniable beauty of Nabunglayan through my artwork.

Textured Acrylic Painting on a 24x24-Inch Galley Wrapped Canvas, 08 2026

Inspired by a photo I took in 2017 along Gamay River, this recent 24x24-inch painting of mine offers a glimpse into the lives of children who use the river as their literal highway.

To capture their journey, I juxtaposed a heavily sculpted, thick impasto background with the smooth, fine details of the boat—showing the raw energy of the water against their quiet resilience.

Recreating Red Gumamelas in a new canvas format was such a rewarding process. While staying true to the vibrant energy and heavy texture of the original piece (visible in the background!), "Red Gumamelas No. 2" brings a fresh vertical flow tailored specifically for her space.
